Artist Statement

Through text, collage and image making, my work explores the complexities of navigating selfhood through the intersections of race, sexuality, gender and class. Within this work, I manipulate methods of visibility and invisibility as a means to deconstruct the historical suppression of these narratives. Utilizing archives and found images, my work aims to reconstruct the way in which we process images of the past, pushing them past nostalgia to realized empowerment.
